About this organization
Mission
Western Justice Center empowers people to strengthen their communities by growing the conflict resolution skills and capacity of youth, educators, schools, and community partners.
About
Conflict resolution education programs - WJC empowers young people and educators to become the conflict mediators and community builders of the future. WJC runs three main conflict resolution education programs: ABCs of Conflict (30-hour in-depth accredited training), Peer Mediation Invitational (the regional 'mock trial' masters of mediation), and School Tools (interactive online curriculum portal). For students, these programs provide opportunities to build confidence, develop social and emotional learning fluency, increase communication skills and provide alternatives to traditional school discipline. For educators, these programs provide practical skill-building in conflict resolution education, peer mediation program administration, restorative justice practices, anti-bullying techniques and implicit bias training. In 2018, School Tools reached more than 22,000 unique viewers. ABCs of Conflict and Peer Mediation Invitational reached more than 200 students and educators across 61 schools and 23 school districts.
