More about this organization

Mission

In March 2013, the organization changed its name to Skylight Theatre Company. The organization's mission is to promote & develop interest in the arts through the presentation of theatrical performances.

About

Skylight Theatre Company creates opportunities for rising artists and writers not commonly available in the commercial or educational worlds. To ensure that we continue to provide a voice for topics and artists often overlooked, we welcome blind play submissions, provide open auditions, and bring together rising Los Angeles artists, the community, and Skylight artistic staff to listen and learn as part of a newly adopted consensus-organizing model. Our artistic development program housed 155 artists, including resident and non-resident writers, actors, directors and a mentoring program that fostered Elan Ensemble, a new devised theatre company; helping them develop a new work with the expertise of local experts - mounting 6 public workshop performances. Skylight produced 5 plays with 71 artists. The 2017 season focused on social justice for women, families and the LGBTQ community.
