Mission

Through the arts, we transform the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities.

About

Hope Center for the Arts has a two-fold aim in providing arts programming to the intellectually disabled: 1. To empower them to reach their full human potential, and 2. To build bridges between them and the broader community. Hope not only provides training for our artists but also uses the arts as a tool for breaking down barriers and misconceptions that have marginalized the disabled community. Through exhibits and performances, our artists present themselves as capable, creative citizens contributing to the cultural fabric of the community these events draw in members of the general public, helping them change their perceptions of those who are disabled. Our programs bring together those with and those without disabilities. Building these human connections at the individual level helps build friendships, decrease discomfort, and raise awareness that those who are disabled are just as much a part of the community as their neighbors.
