About

Operation School Bell - The Operation School Bell program provided new school clothing to 477 elementary school children from low income families. The children were given three complete school outfits at the Assistance League Glendale from a selection of polo shirts, long or short pants, skirts or jumpers for the girls, and five pairs of underwear and socks. The children were especially excited to receive a warm zip-up fleece jacket for the cold mornings on the school playground and were eager to open their own personal hygiene kit packed with a new comb, hair brush, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste. The children were also given a coupon to take home to their parents to redeem for a new pair of shoes. The last stop before leaving Assistance League brought big smile as they were allowed to chose two books to take home to keep. This year we expended our Operation School Bell program to include 70 middle school students in need. With the assistance of the Glendale Unified School District Healthy Start coordinator, students were identified and measured for sizes. They were given two pairs of jeans, polo shirts, fleece jackets, underwear, socks, health kits and backpacks.
