Our mission is to collect, preserve and promote the culture and history of Santa Catalina Island and to bring unique exhibitions to Catalina. Our vision is to be an anchor of tradition, a beacon of culture, inspiring our communities.

The Museum maintains a vibrant rotating exhibition schedule of at least four art and historical exhibitions. Additionally, the Museum presents a rotating contemporary sculpture program celebrating the work of Southern California artists. A large gallery permanently devoted to Catalina Island history is refreshed regularly to reflect the extraordinary history of Catalina Island. Tours of the museum's exhibitions and sites in our city of Avalon are conducted regularly. The museum's collection of over 160,000 historical items and artworks made on Catalina are collected, preserved and exhibited and are accessible to researchers.
