Mission
(ACSF) works to preserve, develop, and share the martial art of Capoeira with integrity, and to use Capoeira to build a healthy, just, and vibrant society in which people feel connected to and responsible for their community.
About
ACSF uses Capoeira as a catalyst for positive change. ACSF has a long-standing commitment to serving a diverse multigenerational community. Youth and adults of our community need access to a safe place to engage in meaningful activities taught by role models they can identify with. They need mentorship and opportunities to challenge beliefs in their own limitations. They need skill development; improved wellness and consistent activity; connection with diverse populations; leadership development; and civic and intergenerational engagement. With the pandemic these needs are felt across the bay area and are even more dire. ACSF meets our community’s need for safe, accessible space to participate in activities that foster positive change through participation in arts, improved health, and cultural connectedness. To remove barriers to participation we offer inclusive year-round programs, equitable fees, and operate in underserved communities.
