Clinical operations provided clinical support for 2,341 families last year through their grief as they suffered the loss of their loved ones and facilitated the recovery of organs and tissues. Families were either informed of their loved one's donation decision made on the donor registry or authorized donation for their loved one. Through their generosity, thousands of others were saved or healed because of these gifts of life. In 2018, we recovered 1,048 organs for transplantation from 307 organ donors and provided tissues for transplantation from 2,168 tissue donors; an estimated 73,500 lives were improved as a result.
