Mission
Empower Yolo's mission is to promote safe, healthy, and resilient communities. Empower Yolo's purpose is to provide: (a) Twenty-four hour crisis intervention, emergency shelter, confidential counseling, training, legal assistance, and other services for individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and child abuse; (b) Resource centers for community services to improve the health, social, educational and economic outcomes of Yolo County residents; and, (c) Community outreach and educational programs about available resources to promote health, stability, and self-sufficiency for individuals and families.

RESOURCE CENTER: IN 2018, OUR VOLUNTEERS DEDICATED OVER 5,000 HOURS OF SERVICE BY ANSWERING OUR 24-HOUR CRISIS LINE, EDUCATING STUDENTS ABOUT VIOLENCE PREVENTION, AND PROVIDING OUTREACH TO THE COMMUNITY TO INFORM THEM OF OUR SERVICES. OUR VOLUNTEERS ALSO PROVIDED PEER COUNSELING TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING. VOLUNTEERS RUN OUR COMMUNITY CLOTHING CLOSET, HELP WITH FOOD DISTRIBUTION AND ASSIST WITH MANY OF OUR CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS. OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE COMPASSIONATE AND TRAINED ADVOCATES WHO IMPROVE THE OVERALL HEALTH OF THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS THAT WE SERVE.THE HEALTH INSURANCE ENROLLMENT PROGRAM ENROLLED ADULTS AND CHILDREN IN HEALTH INSURANCE AND ASSISTED MANY OTHERS IN APPLYING FOR OTHER BENEFITS.WE ALSO PREVENTED MANY HOUSEHOLDS FROM BECOMING HOMELESS THROUGH OUR EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANT, HELPING THOSE HOUSEHOLDS GO FROM HOMELESS TO HOUSED THROUGH OUR RAPID RE-HOUSING PROGRAM.ADDITIONALLY, EMPOWER YOLO PROVIDED INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE TO OVER 510 TAXPAYERS, SECURING OVER $1.1M IN TAX REFUNDS FOR THOSE SERVED.
