THE IPRC'S MISSION IS TO FACILITATE CREATIVE EXPRESSION, IDENTITY AND COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING INDIVIDUAL ACCESS TO TOOLS AND RESOURCES FOR CREATING INDEPENDENTLY PUBLISHED MEDIA AND ARTWORK.

WORKSPACE:THE IPRC PROVIDES A WORKSPACE THAT INCLUDES EQUIPMENT, TECHNOLOGY, AND SUPPLIES FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND MEMBERS TO USE IN THE PRODUCTION OF PUBLICATIONS AND RELATED MATERIALS. THIS IS AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC AT EITHER AN MONTHLY MEMBERS' RATE ($10 - $25/MONTH), ANNUAL MEMBERS' RATE ($100 - $250/YEAR), OR AN HOURLY ($5.00/HOUR) USER RATE. AS PART OF OUR WORKSPACE, WE HOUSE A LENDING LIBRARY OF SELF PUBLISHED OR SMALL PRESS MATERIALS, WHICH NUMBERS OVER 8,000 PUBLICATIONS AT PRESENT. THIS SERVICE IS FREE TO EVERYONE. ANNUALLY THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 2000 PEOPLE, PRIMARILY IN THE PORTLAND METRO AREA, WHO USE THE SPACE IN A MEMBERSHIP/LIBRARY/GENERAL VISITATION CAPACITY. WORKSHOPS AND OUTREACH:THE IPRC OFFERS WORKSHOPS AT OUR WORKSPACE THAT TEACH BASIC PUBLISHING SKILLS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND MEMBERS AT AFFORDABLE RATES. WE OFFERED AN AVERAGE OF TEN WORKSHOPS A MONTH TO ASSIST PUBLISHERS IN GAINING NEW TECHNICAL SKILLS IN A SMALL GROUP SETTING (MAXIMUM TEN PEOPLE PER WORKSHOP). EACH YEAR, THE CENTER ACCEPTS APPROXIMATELY THIRTY-FIVE STUDENTS INTO THE YEAR-LONG CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IN CREATIVE WRITING AND INDEPENDENT PUBLISHING. WE WERE ABLE TO SERVE APPROXIMATELY 1000 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH ALL WORKSHOP PROGRAMS IN 2018.
