Mission

The mission of WAG is the prevention of cruelty to animals, with a current emphasis on spay/neuter. Our goal is to improve the lives of animals, stop animal overpopulation, and reduce animal suffering by sterilizing over 5,000 animals per year. WAG is financed through low service fees and private financial gifts. WAG receives no government funding.

About

During 2018, the WAG Spay/Neuter Clinic spayed/neutered nearly 5,427 cats and dogs, well exceeding our goal of 5,000 in prior years. WAG also expanded our wellness clinic services and ran many spay/neuter specials that particularly targeted low-income pet owners. We reached several milestones in 2018, including reaching our 50,000th spay/neuter surgery and celebrating our 10-year anniversary. WAG raised over $25,000 from its 2018 annual fundraising which was then matched by a generous donor in early January 2019. WAG was the recipient of several grants in 2018 as well as two $5,000 donations from PenFed Credit Union and High Priestess. Penfed's press release stated that each quarter its employees Xselect local charities that are in alignment with PenFed's core values and resonate with them personally" and the gift to WAG is part of PenFed's commitment to give to Eugene nonprofits that "make a tremendous impact on the lives of those who live in the Lane County community."
