THE COLLECTION HAS GROWN OVER THE YEARS SINCE ITS INCEPTION AND NOW INCLUDE AROUND 24,000 SPECIMENTS. WE USE OUR EXTENSIVE COLLECTION AS TEACHING AIDS AND STUNNING EXAMPLES TO REACH NEARLY 10,000 STUDENTS AND OVER 20,000 VISITORS EACH YEAR.OUR KEY PROGRAMS INCLUDE ONSITE STUDENT TOURS, OFFSITE PRESENTATIONS, AND ROTATING EXHIBITS. WE HAVE TWO MAJOR EVENTS EACH YEAR: THUNDEREGG-STRAVAGANZA AND SUMMERFEST, WHICH ATTRACT THOUSANDS OF VISITORS. WE ARE SET UP FOR FACILITY RENTALS, HOSTED TOURS, PICNICS, AND WEDDINGS.CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.SINCE OUR INCEPTION WE HAVE WORKED CLOSELY WITH LOCAL ROCKHOUNDING CLUBS, COORDINATING ROTATING CLUB CASES OF THEIR NEW AND INTERESTING SPECIMENS. IN THE FIRST FIVE YEARS AS A PUBLIC CHARITY, WE HAVE ALSO HOSTED SPEAKERS, EVENTS, AND WORKSHOPS.IN 2019 WE SET UP THREE NEW EXHIBITS: THE COLLECTION OF INTERNATIONAL GEMS AND MINERALS FROM THE SPANN COLLECTION, A COLLECTION OF NEW AGATES FROM NORTHERN MEXICO; AND THE BRILLIANT TRIANGULAR GEMSTONES KNOWN AS TRILLIANTS.WE HAVE REMAINED CONSISTENT TO THE ORIGINAL CHARTER SET FORTH BY HELEN AND RICHARD RICE WHEN THEY FIRST BEGAN OFFERING THE COLLECTION FOR PUBLIC VIEWING. WE ENCOURAGE HANDS-ON INTERACTION WITH THE COLLECTION WHEN POSSIBLE, WE REFRESH AS NEEDED, AND WE SERVE AS AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE TO LOCAL ROCKHOUNDS. WE ARE HEALTH, GROWING, AND ENERGIZED, AND WE BELIEVE WE HAVE A SOLID FUTURE.
