The Library Foundation strengthens our community and creates a bright future for our children by supporting, expanding and advocating for Multnomah County Library’s innovative and groundbreaking work. The foundation’s vision is that every person builds a relationship with learning and libraries that lasts a lifetime. Through this relationship, every person can have access to all of the tools needed to succeed in life.
About
School-age literacy programs reached into 7 school districts and across the community, engaging more than 120,000 children and teens in activities that cemented reading skills and academic success. Four primary investments last year: Books 2 U brought inspiring "booktalkers and take-home books to over 14,000 students in low-performing public schools. Summer Reading reached 112,000 babies, children and teens, including 97% of the county's elementary school students. In one of our highest-risk neighborhoods, the Rockwood Library Makerspace brought a hands-on, technology-rich learning environment and programs to nearly 3,000 teens. Welcome to Reading Literacy Kits and STEM Kits, reached thousands of children and parents at all library locations.
