Autism Society San Diego AS-SD sponsored eight 1- week summer camps for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder ASD. Each participant had a one-on-one aide during the camp and each day the campers visited a different local attraction, followed by swimming in the afternoon. The camp was co-facilitated by the Mission Valley/Toby Wells YMCA and Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA. Participation in Camp I CAN was open to San Diego County children ages 6-17 with ASD. In addition, AS-SD sponsored summer camps in August for adults at Ecke Family YMCA with daily fieldtrips and aides on a ratio of 1 aide for 2 participants. AS-SD helps to fund low-cost adaptive swim lessons for persons with ASD Pool PALS Pool for Persons with Autism Learning to Swim, Surf Camp during the summer, and free monthly family pool and pizza parties. AS-SD also hosted a film and art event, Lights Camera Autism Supporting local developmentally disabled artists, musicians, and filmmakers at a chow case of their talents.
