THE PACIFIC COAST OBSTETRICAL AND GYNECOLOGICAL SOCIETY IS COMPOSED OF INDIVIDUALS DEDICATED TO EXCELLENCE IN THE HEALTH CARE OF WOMEN, DEDICATED TO PROMOTING COOPERATIVE EFFORTS AND UNITY BETWEEN PRIVATE PRACTICE PHYSICIANS AND THE ACADEMIC SECTOR, PROVIDING CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION FOR ITS MEMBERSHIP, AND ADVANCING KNOWLEDGE IN THE SPECIALTY. THE SOCIETY ALSO DEALS WITH CONCERNS IN THE SPECIALTY OTHER THAN DIRECT PATIENT CARE, INCLUDING SOCIAL ISSUES, HEALTH CARE DELIVERY, AND PATIENT EDUCATION. THE SOCIETY IS DEDICATED TO THE CONTINUANCE OF PHYSICIAN'S PROFESSIONAL LEARNING FROM MEDICAL SCHOOL THROUGH RESIDENCY/FELLOWSHIP TRAINING AND BEYOND.

THE EIGHTY-FIFTH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE SOCIETY WAS HELD AT THE COEUR D'ALENE, COEUR D'ALENE, IDAHO WITH THE SEATTLE CAUCUS AS HOST. DALE REISNER AND THE ARRANGEMENTS COMMITTEE PROVIDED AN OUTSTANDING SOCIAL PROGRAM AND LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS. 142 MEMBERS AND INVITED GUESTS ATTENDED THE SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS. LORI MARSHALL AND THE PROGRAM COMMITTEE PRODUCED AN OUTSTANDING SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM. THE SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS INCLUDED EIGHT LECTURES, FOUR BY FELLOWS; 4 BY INVITED GUESTS. FELLOWS AND INVITED GUESTS PRESENTED FOURTEEN SCIENTIFIC PAPERS. INVITED SPEAKERS INCLUDED WHITNEY WELLENSTEIN, THE FRANK LYNCH MEMORIAL ESSAYIST, "CHARACTERISTICS AND HEALTH CARE NEEDS OF GENDER DYSPHORIC PEDIATRIC PATIENTS; HENRY GREELY, ATTY, COMBINED LUNCHEON LECTURE, "THE END OF SEX AND THE FUTURE OF HUMAN REPRODUCTION; PRESIDENTIAL CHOICE LECTURE, JOHN RINEHART, PRESENTED "BIG DATA/AI AND ITS IMPACT ON OB/GYN". HARJINDER SANDHU, PHD, KEYNOTE LECTURE, "ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MEDICINE: THE PRESENT AND THE POTENTIAL FOR THE FUTURE". TWO PANEL DISCUSSIONS WERE A PART OF THE SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS - "PERINATAL COLLABORATIVE PROGRAMS ON THE WEST COAST AND BEYOND (PANEL MEMBERS-ELLIOTT MAIN, DALE REISNER, MARK TOMLINSON AND LARRY SHIELDS); AND THE JAMES C. & JOAN CAILLOUETTE PRESENTATION WAS A PANEL DISCUSSION-"ELECTIVE EGG FREEZING AS FAMILY PLANNING" (PANEL MEMBERS-JULIE LAMB, RICHARD PAULSON, AARON CAUGHEY AND MILLIE BEHERA) THE TED ADAMS POSTER PRESENTATIONS WERE PRESENTED BY SEVEN RESIDENTS/FELLOWS. THE WINNING POSTER, SELECTED BY THE PROGRAM COMMITTEE, WENT TO MARTHA TESFALUL. HER POSTER WAS "WHEN IS LESS MORE? DECREASING THE AMOUNT OF OPIODS PRESCRIBED AFTER CESAREAN SECTION".
