About

The first “Brandt House” began taking shape in the early 1980’s. Bob and Peg Brandt already had three biological children but felt they could do more. They began taking kids into their home that needed a place to stay, some short-term and others permanently. Kids came from different backgrounds, ages, races, and cultures. By 1994, the Brandts had adopted nine more children for a total of 12. Aside from the permanent 12, there were over 30 other kids who lived there throughout the years. The “Brandt House” of the time was open and loud, crowded with teenagers and toddlers, accepting, diverse and always growing. It was a masterpiece of imperfections! Today, the 12 Brandt children are grown, some married, and includes 26 grandchildren, however the “Brandt House” legacy has carried forward. Brandt House is now a non-profit organization that provides hope, support, and mentoring services for low income or homeless families. The “Brandt House” of today is making room for more: more people, more houses. Whether it was the kids in the original Brandt house, or families working with us today, the focus has always been on having an authentic relationship, where we connect often and move forward toward positive goals.
