About
The Latino Coalition's Work and Gain Education & Employment Skills (WAGEES) project developed through criminal reinvestment strategies provides sub-grants, technical assistance and capacity building to nonprofits in Colorado and California working in high-povery, high-crime cummunities to provide reentry services to formerly-incarcerated and justice system-involved individuals both pre and post release. The purpose of the project is to prepare these individuals for employment, increasing the rate at which the participants receive high school diplomas and industry-recognized credentials and increasing the rate at which participants enter post-secondary education and training. Long-term outcomes achieved are increasing the employment rate of participants and decreasing the recidivisn rate of those served. Transforming Safety is a public investment community driven safety initiative focused in Colorado. Two marginalized communities of color were identified and local planning teams of citizens developed priority areas responsive to community safety need identified. Local Community and faith based organizations developed various theories of change to address the priority areas identified. The Latino Coalition provides technical assistance, capacity building and eveluaiton of the project.
