Mission

Our mission is to empower individuals, strengthen families and build communities through self-reliance and education programs.

About

Utah Community Action provides a variety of services to assist low-income families and individuals in achieving economic self-sufficiency. We serve over 50,000 individuals each year through the following programs: Head Start, Adult Education, Case Management & Housing Services, Heat Energy Assistance, Weatherization, and Nutrition. Each year, Head Start provides high quality early childhood education and care for over 2,000 vulnerable children ages 0-5. Head Start programs deliver services to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way. Our Early Head Start Child Care Partnership program brings together the best of Early Head Start and childcare through partnerships to provide comprehensive and continuous services to low-income infants, toddlers and their families. In fiscal year 2019, Head Start served 2,625 children and 2,282 families, which is 3.93% of Head Start eligible children in the state of Utah. Of these children, 90% met income-based eligibility standards (129% of poverty guidelines). Early Head Start Childcare Partnerships served 113 children in 105 families.
