ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING FY 2016-2017 INCLUDED TEACHING AND IMPROVING COPING SKILLS OF 1096 SURVIVORS OF HOMICIDE VICTIMS THROUGH COORDINATION AND APPLICATION OF COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES PRIMARILY THROUGH CRISIS INTERVENTION AND LONG TERM EMOTIONAL SUPPORT. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY PROVIDING HANDS-ON ADVOCACY THROUGHOUT THEIR JOURNEY FROM FUNERAL PLANNING, INTERACTING WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT, CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM (ACCOMPANIMENT TO HEARINGS AND TRIALS, LIASON WITH PROSECUTORS) AND PROVIDING ON GOING PROGRAMS WITH FIVE MONTHLY SUPPORTS GROUPS (INCLUDES CHILDRENS, SPANISH SPEAKING AND RURAL LOCATION)PLUS WEEKLY WALKING GROUPS AND EQUINE THERAPY. THREE MAIN COMMUNITY EVENTS ARE HELD EACH YEAR-VICTIMS RIGHTS VIGIL, NATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBRANCE AND THANKSGIVING POTLUCK. SURVIVORS ARE EDUCATED ABOUT VICTIMS RIGHTS AND ASSISTED WITH THE VICTIM COMPENSATION PROCESS AND 88-CRIME INVOLVEMENT. EMERGENCY FINANACIAL ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED INCLUDING FUNERAL EXPENSE, TRAVEL AND LODGING DURING TRIALS AND SENTENCING REDUCING THE STRESSFUL ECONOMIC IMPACT AND REVICTIMIZATION THEY EXPERIENCE THROUGHOUT THEIR RECOVERY PROCESS. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES PROVIDED TO SURVIVORS HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY HELPFUL IN THEIR HEALING PROCESS. NINETY-EIGHT PERCENT (98%) OF SURVIVORS SURVEYED REPORTED INCREASED ABILITY TO COPE, FEWER SECONDARY CRISIS EVENTS AND DECREASED FEELINGS OF ISOLATION ALONG WITH SATISFACTION WITH SERVICES.
