About
EXHIBITSTHE ANTICIPATED EXHIBITS WILL RELATE TO THE VARIOUS INDUSTRIES WITHIN THE MID-OHIO VALLEY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO AUTO, OIL AND GAS, PLASTICS, CHEMICALS, CONSTRUCTION, HEALTHCARE, BANKING AND TRANSPORTATION. EACH EXHIBIT WILL OFFER HANDS-ON COMPONENTS THAT TEACH THE YOUTH ABOUT HOW THE VARIOUS INDUSTRIES AND BUSINESSES WITHIN THEIR PERTINENT INDUSTRIES OPERATE. THEY ALSO HIGHLIGHT THE SKILLS NEEDED WITHIN THE INDUSTRIES. AS A HANDS-ON EXHIBIT, THE MOVABLE PARTS OF EACH EXHIBIT WILL HIGHLIGHT HOW EACH SKILL IS PERFORMED USING COMPONENTS THAT ARE DESIGNED TO WORK WELL WITH THE YOUTH WHILE STILL SHOWING WHAT TAKES PLACES WITHIN THE INDUSTRIES. THIS OFFERS A PLAYFUL ENVIRONMENT THAT IS COMFORTABLE FOR THE YOUTH. SOME POSSIBLE EXHIBITS FOR SOME OF THE INDUSTRIES ARE HIGHLIGHTED BELOW: OIL AND GAS - THE YOUTH WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO USE A RIG THAT IS DESIGNED FOR THAT AGE GROUP THAT SHOWS HOW DRILLING A WELL TAKES PLACE. THE MOVEABLE PARTS HIGHLIGHT HOW THE PROCESS OCCURS. THE YOUTH WILL ALSO LEARN HOW TO BUILD A PIPELINE THAT DISTRIBUTES GAS TO THE NECESSARY LOCATIONS FOR HEATING PURPOSES. THEY WILL USE PLASTICS MATERIALS THAT THEY CAN CONNECT SHOWING THE PROCESS. THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE POSSIBLE EXHIBITS FOR THIS INDUSTRY. AUTO - THE YOUTH WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN ABOUT THE VARIOUS COMPONENTS THAT MAKE VEHICLES, LIKE ENGINES. THEY MAY BE ABLE TO BUILD AN ENGINE MADE OF MATERIALS, LIKE PLASTIC, THAT THE YOUTH CAN PLAY WITH. THIS WILL HIGHLIGHT HOW THE ENGINEERING SKILLS INTERFACE WITH THE CREATION OF A FINAL PRODUCT. THEY MAY BE ABLE TO DESIGN AN ENGINE BEFORE THEY CAN PUT IT TOGETHER TOO. THEY WILL MOST LIKELY ALSO BE ABLE TO USE A WOODEN OR REAL VEHICLE THAT STAYS IN PLACE WHERE THEY CAN USE THE VARIOUS PARTS, LIKE STEERING. PLASTICS - SIMILAR TO WHAT IS MENTIONED IN THE PIPELINE EXAMPLE UNDER OIL AND GAS, THE YOUTH CAN BUILD THINGS USING PLASTIC MATERIALS. THEY WILL ALSO LEARN HOW PLASTIC IS MADE USING HANDS-ON EXHIBITS. FOR INSTANCE, THE YOUTH MAY BE ABLE TO SEE HOW PELLETS ARE USED TO MAKE PLASTIC MATERIALS. THIS MAY OCCUR IN AN ENCLOSED AREA WHERE THE YOUTH CANNOT TOUCH THE PELLETS BUT CAN TURN KNOBS THAT SHOW HOW THE PELLETS FORM THE PLASTIC MATERIAL. CONSTRUCTION - THE YOUTH WILL BE ABLE TO USE LARGE LEGOS AND BLOCKS TO BUILD STRUCTURES. CHEMICALS - THE YOUTH WILL BE ABLE TO TURN HANDLES THAT HAVE A VIEWING AREA THAT IS ENCLOSED THAT WILL HIGHLIGHT HOW COMBINING CHEMICALS CAN CREATE SOMETHING ELSE. THERE WILL PROBABLY BE PROGRAMMING THAT WILL BE IN A CLASS SETTING TO SHOW HOW CHEMICALS WORK. FOR INSTANCE, THEY WILL PROBABLY LEARN HOW TO CREATE SLIME AND PLAYDOUGH LIKE MATERIAL. HEALTHCARE - THE YOUTH WILL USE HANDS-ON EXHIBITS TO LEARN ABOUT THE BODY. THIS MAY BE DONE BY MOVEABLE PARTS THAT SHOWS SCREENS ABOUT EACH BODY PART. THERE ALSO MAY BE BODY PARTS MADE OF PLASTICS THAT THE YOUTH CAN TAKE APART TO LEARN MORE ABOUT EACH PART, LIKE A HEART. THEY MAY ALSO HAVE A DENTAL ENVIRONMENT WITH A CHAIR DESIGNED FOR THE YOUTH AND HIGHLIGHT THE IMPORTANCE OF CLEANING AND TAKING CARE OF YOUTH MOUTH. BANKING - THERE WILL BE AN ATM DESIGNED FOR THE YOUTH THAT TEACHES THEM HOW ATMS WORK. THERE WILL BE MOVEABLE PARTS THAT SHOW WHAT THEY DO, LIKE BUTTONS, ETC. THERE MAY BE PLAY MONEY THAT COMES OUT OF THE ATM. THERE WILL ALSO PROBABLY BE A TELLER AREA WHERE THE YOUTH CAN IMITATE AS A TEAM WHAT TELLERS DO AND WHAT THEY GIVE OUT. THESE ARE JUST A FEW IDEAS. TRANSPORTATION - RIVER AND RAIL PLAY AN IMPORTANT PART IN THE MID-OHIO VALLEY. THE RIVER IS AN IMPORTANT FORM OF TRANSPORTATION. THERE WILL BE A WATER TABLE AREA THAT HIGHLIGHTS THE ROLE THAT RIVER PLAYS IN THE AREA. THERE WILL BE MOVEABLE PARTS TO SHOW HOW TRANSPORTATION ALONG THE RIVER HAS OCCURRED IN THE PAST AND HOW IT WORKS TODAY. RAIL ALSO PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE TO COMPLEMENT THE RIVER ACTIVITIES. THIS WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED THROUGH TRAINS THAT MOVE ABOUT THE WATER TABLE AND IN OTHER AREAS NEAR THE WATER AREA. THE YOUTH WILL BE ABLE TO BUILD, TRACK, AND OPERATE TRAINS MANUALLY AND/OR BY USING REMOTES. AUTO, WHICH IS DISCUSSED ABOVE WILL ALSO BE PART OF THIS EXHIBIT.
