Children's workshops: Wild Bear Nature Center provides children ages 5-15 with educational opportunities outside of school hours; after-school, days off, and all summer. It is the only licensed school age child care in the Nederland area. Wild Bear is a CCAP (Colorado Child Care Assistance Program) provider and 48% of participants are identified as low-income and access programs through CCAP and donor supported scholarships. Wild Bear provided 381 programs to 3,250 children who explored the Indian Peaks Wilderness, Mud Lake and Caribou Ranch open spaces, and other surrounding natural areas. School programs: Wild Bear provides natural science programs to surrounding school districts at Mud Lake or at the nature center. Wild Bear provided 14 school group programs to 468 children. Intergenerational family programs and visitation: The free interim nature center, located in a commercial space, is open nearly every day through the year and engages local families, as well as tourists, with educational nature exhibits. Wild Bear provided 31 adult/family programs to 3,819 participants and enjoyed 20,888 free general visitors at the nature center.
