Accomplishments

• Development of homeopathy as a medical profession: with support from the haitian ministry of health and in collaboration with the haitian medical association, a 90-hour specialized medical training program on the use of homeopathic medicines for acute, epidemic diseases and trauma care graduated 12 medically licensed professionals and enrolled 11 new professionals. a 54-hour training program on the use of homeopathic medicines for the childbearing year is educating 11 nurses and midwives at a government maternity hospital. both courses include classroom instruction and practice-based learning during clinics that were or are overseen by hwb staff (2) and volunteer mentors (9). during the courses, 425 patients were treated at no charge at community clinics. follow-ups are maintained by local professional homeopaths. the goal of the training program is to improve the capacity of local health care professionals. • Integrative medical team service: hwb supported 1 team (3 people/4 full days) in haiti in 2018 to assist local medical teams at mobile clinics. 169 patients were served at a mobile clinic site where limited or no medical care is available. the objective of these clinical days is to provide homeopathic medical care and mentoring to homeopathic graduates in collaboration with local medical teams. • Homeopathy health for africa: in 2018, another 1000+ hiv/aids patients were treated in 20 rural, town and hospital-based free clinics and the maasai tribal lands throughout the kilimanjaro region of tanzania. 30 international homeopaths volunteered in the clinics and stayed in hha provided housing, receiving supplemental instruction from hha founders. the objective is to supplement usual medical care of hiv/aids patients with holistic health care to improve health and energy. work continued at the residential school for deaf children, treating 50 profoundly deaf children, ages 5 to 19 years old. working with a tanzanian audiologist, data on outcomes was collected for analysis at the end of the term in 2018. the albinism treatment project to treat 200 albino children at a residential school continued to provide health care, as well as sun-protective clothing and glasses. development of the center, called aiim (african institute of integrated medicine) continued, in partnership with a tanzanian medical doctor. plans were made for equipping the center with a cd4 testing machine in order to increase attendance. the center was regularly staffed by trained tanzanian homeopaths. invitations were extended to opticians, osteopaths, acupuncturists, nutritionists, and other holistic professionals, as well as micro-financing consultants, to participate. in 2018 hha provided housing, clinical supervision and tutoring in pathophysiology to two students of the kwale school for homeopathy. this was the finale to their 4-year instruction program in kwale and the graduates came on staff at hha as practicing homeopaths. • Sidewalk clinic: engaged in homeopathic and health consultation follow-ups and new client care in brighton and dorchester, ma, as well as ongoing outreach to the mental health and substance abuse treatment providers in ma especially in dorchester and brighton neighborhoods. educational outreach in greater boston community and nationally including community health information seminar series; presentations at integrative healthcare symposium in new york and im4us, a nonprofit comprised of medical professionals serving the poor and indigent; webinar for homeopathic nurses association, and presentation for "caring for cancer" an organization which works with patients with cancer and cancer survivors.
