About this organization
Mission
Preservation of open space and parks, and creation of a network of trails, bikeways and greenways.
About
In 2017 we led a public process in Teller County to close the final gap on the Ring the Peak Trail with stakeholder meetings in Cripple Creek, and led a series of discovery tours to engage the public in the area. Our program, Bike Colorado Springs, worked on activating the Legacy Loop through tours and a bike-in live theater, as well as representing bicycling interests on committees and boards. We fostered the creation of a new friends group to improve Boulder Park, and took on the fiscal sponsorship of the Friends of Ute Valley Park. Our volunteer website listed 200+ projects in city, county and state parks. We have graduated 30+ crew leaders per year for each of the last 5 years, getting more crews on the ground building and maintaining trails. We produced maps of e-bike trails and the Legacy Loop. 4,000+ email subscribers receive our weekly e-newsletter with information about parks and trails, issues and volunteer projects. 1,000+ individual donors provide financial support for our mission. Other financial support comes from other nonprofits, businesses, and private and corporate foundations.
