About

Trail operations: Improve and maintain the Colorado Trail. Nine week-long, eight 3 to 5 day, and four one day volunteer trail crews consisting of 325 crew volunteers and 280 trail adopters and helpers performed trail maintenance. This included constructing new trail extending an off-road reroute, building or refurbishing hundreds of water diversions, and refurbishing many miles of trail to limit erosion and enhance sustainability. They rebuilt approaches and decking to bridges, removed rocks impeding the trail, improved equestrian creek crossings, removed trees and overgrowth, and built or rebuilt 10+ turnpikes. Trail adopters and volunteers repaired, replaced, and installed directional signage and confidence markers. In all, 605 volunteers gave over 10,700 hours to improve and maintain the 567-mile length of the Colorado Trail, and worked with the US Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and other partner organizations to protect the trail for Colorado Trail users.
