Hire KC - Hire KC remains a signature youth employment program started by Kansas City, Missouri Mayor Sly James in 2014. Following two years of expansion, championed by Mayor James, the initiative has grown from a city hall program into a fully citywide youth success platform, and is managed by the KC Social Innovation Center. Hire KC worked to strategically align and organize the region's out-of-school work-based experiences to better support opportunity equity, and help illuminate career pathways so that all youth can learn and grow into promising futures. Last year, Hire KC connected 256 youth to internships at 191 worksites across the Kansas City region. It continues expanding at a high-growth pace, and is fueled to address the issue of opportunity equity using technology to accelerate and coordinate the efficiencies and systems necessary for scale. Hire KC focused on internship program management, launching a new regional work-based experience marketplace - through "LaunchPath" software, and designing a cadre of complementary, innovative local youth workforce initiatives.
