Mission

To help restore and maintain land and green assets by providing professionally skilled crews who can assist in environmental management

About

Working closely with a coalition of public and private agencies as well as a network of greenspace and workforce development experts, Landforce recruits, trains, educates, employs and supports traditionally hard to employ adults including those with limited income and education levels, homelessness, or those who are formerly incarcerated and/or military veterans. In 2018, Landforce hired 21 crew members which was a significant increase from 14 in 2017 and 12 in 2016 and exceeded our target number of 12 to 18. Landforce delivered 320 hours of personalized career coaching and logged 1,566 hours of soft and hard skills training. While Landforce had an unusually low completion rate of 57% (12 out of 21 crew members) due to a large increase in mental health diagnoses and substance abuse histories, 92% (11) of the finishers had job offers by the end of the month they left Landforce. The average wage for these jobs was $16/hour. While at Landforce, crew members improved fundamental workforce and job skills. 88% of crew members reported learning teamwork, how to work hard, take pride in their work, and reported increased confidence.
