THE MISSION OF THE OFF BROADWAY THEATRE IS TO ENRICH THE WASATCH FRONT BY INSPIRING LAUGHTER, DEVELOPING TALENTS, AND FOSTERING LEARNING THROUGH THE CREATIVE EXPRESSION OF THE THEATRICAL ARTS AND IMPROV COMEDY. WE FULFILL THIS MISSION BY: PRESENTING FAMILY-FRIENDLY, ORIGINAL PARODIES, IMPROVISATIONAL COMEDY, AND OTHER WHOLESOME ENTERTAINMENT FOR AUDIENCES IN OUR THEATRE AND AT LOCAL SCHOOLS, YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS, HOSPITALS, ETC.; PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ASPIRING PLAYWRIGHTS, ACTORS, DIRECTORS, STAGE TECHNICIANS, AND VOLUNTEERS TO LEARN AND DEVELOP THEIR SKILLSOPPORTUNITIES RARELY FOUND ELSEWHERE IN UTAH THEATERS; TEACHING ACTING, SPEAKING, AND IMPROVISATION CLASSES IMPORTANT, TRANSFERABLE SKILLS FOR SUCCESS AND SELF-ESTEEMTO LOCAL YOUTH, BOTH AT THE THEATRE AND AT THEIR SCHOOLS.

THE OFF BROADWAY THEATRE (OBT) PRODUCED SEVEN PLAYS, WHICH REHEARSED SIX WEEKS, RAN SIX WEEKS EACH, AND PERFORMED LAUGHING STOCK IMPROV EVERY WEEKEND YEAR-ROUND. OBT PROVIDED OVER 30 FREE PERFORMANCES FOR CHARITIES SUCH AS U-HOPE, SALVATION ARMY, BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS, FREEDOM LANDON SERVICES FOR VETS, EARLY LIGHT ACADEMY, EVA CARLSON ACADEMY, LITERACY ACTION CENTER, ODYSSEY HOUSE, & YOUTH SERVICES, AMONG MANY OTHERS AS PART OF OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM. OUR THEATER DONATED PASSES AND GIFT CERTIFICATES TO MANY CHARITIES FOR THEIR SILENT AUCTION FUNCTIONS AND SCHOOLS FOR THEIR PTAS AND TEACHER'S APPRECIATION WEEK. OBT'S IMPROV TROUPE, LAUGHING STOCK PERFORMED ANNUALLY AT CAMP HOBE EVERY JUNE PROVIDING CHILDREN WITH CANCER THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE AND BE A PART OF A SHOW. THEY EXPERIENCE LAUGHTER AND BUILD CONFIDENCE IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES. OFF BROADWAY THEATRE PROVIDED MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO MENTOR UP AND COMING ACTORS, DIRECTORS, STAGE MANAGERS, LIGHT AND SOUND TECHS TO HONE THEIR SKILLS IN THE ART OF LIVE THEATER. WE OFFERED VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES TO MANY OF OUR SHOWS AND EVENTS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY AND IT HELPED BUILD SELF-ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE AMONG PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT AGES AND WORK BACK-GROUND, WHICH FOSTERED A SENSE OF PRIDE IN OUR COMMUNITY."
