YELLOWSTONE ACADEMY IS A PRIVATE, FAITH BASED SCHOOL IN HOUSTON'S THIRD WARD THAT SERVES STUDENTS FROM PRE-K THROUGH THE 8TH GRADE, AND ALUMNI ATTENDING VARIOUS HIGH SCHOOLS IN HOUSTON. YELLOWSTONE ACADEMY OPENED ON AUGUST 21, 2002 WITH FOUR CLASSES OF THREE AND FOUR YEAR OLD STUDENTS. DURING THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR, YELLOWSTONE ACADEMY SERVED 340 STUDENTS FROM PRE-KINDERGARTEN THROUGH THE EIGHTH GRADE AND AN ADDITIONAL 117 GRADUATES THROUGH THE HIGH SCHOOL SUPPORT PROGRAM. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OF THE STUDENTS SERVED WERE FROM LOW INCOME FAMILIES WHO LIVE IN NEIGHBORHOODS WITH FAILING SCHOOLS. THROUGH DONORS' GENEROSITY, EACH STUDENT RECEIVED A SCHOLARSHIP THAT COVERED 99% OF THE COST OF ATTENDANCE.YELLOWSTONE ACADEMY IS COMMITTED TO LEVELING THE ACADEMIC PLAYING FIELD FOR OUR STUDENTS WITH OUR COMMUNITY'S SUPPORT. OF THE 27 HISD ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS OUR STUDENTS WERE ZONED FOR, 70% RECEIVED A FAILING SCORE FROM CHILDREN AT RISK, AND THE OTHER 30% WERE RANKED D. THE ACADEMY'S WORK HAS NEVER BEEN MORE URGENT AS THE SCHOOL IS STANDING IN THE GAP FOR HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS PROVIDING THEM WITH A HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT THEY OTHERWISE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS.
