Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) Program VASE recognizes exemplary student achievement in the visual arts by providing art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve. VASE is the only art event of its kind in the nation. Students are provided the opportunity to bring art works created in their art classes to their regional event where they are interviewed by a certified juror who evaluates their work based on a standard based rubric and their understanding of the art process involved in the development of their artwork. In 2018 the Texas VASE hosted 29 regional high school events with 35,029 registered entries. 2,321 entries advanced to the state event. 150 artworks were granted exemplary status with the coveted Gold Seal award. 53 students were awarded scholarships based on works they created on-site at the state event scholarship workshop. In 2018 the Texas VASE Jr VASE program had 12,887 entries from 23 different Regions with 371 student artworks receiving the Silver Medallion Award. In 2018 the VASE Texas TEAM program had 2158 entries from 15 different regions.In 2018 the Texas Art Education Foundation (TAEF) made the monetary scholarship payments for these TAEA VASE events.
