About

The Folds of Honor organization was founded in 2007 by Lt Col Dan Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard. It all started with a flight home from his second tour of duty in Iraq, where he became acutely aware of the difficulties faced by families of fallen or disabled military personnel. During the flight, he learned that the remains of Corporal Brock Bucklin were on board and watched as his twin brother and young son, Jacob, received the flag-draped casket. This experience moved Lt Col Rooney to action, and he decided to commit himself to supporting military families in need. Folds of Honor is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled military service members. Its mission is to provide hope to military families and honor the sacrifices made by their loved ones. The organization has awarded over 20,000 scholarships to date, providing financial assistance for tuition and education expenses. The scholarships are designed to help families achieve their goals and create a better future for themselves. The Folds of Honor program has expanded its mission to include the families of first responders, including police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel. This expansion allows the organization to provide support to even more families who have lost loved ones while serving their communities. Folds of Honor raises funds through various initiatives, including golf tournaments, partnerships with corporations, and donations from individuals. The organization is also a member of the Combined Federal Campaign, allowing military personnel and federal employees to donate through payroll deduction. In conclusion, the Folds of Honor organization is a remarkable non-profit that is making a real difference in the lives of military families. Its mission of providing hope and support to those who have sacrificed so much is truly inspiring. If you are interested in supporting this cause, you can make a donation, participate in one of their events, or spread awareness of their work. Together, we can ensure that the sacrifices of our military and first responder families are honored and never forgotten.
