RUST STREET MINISTRIES PROVIDES FOOD, CLOTHING, FURNITURE, APPLIANCES AND OTHER HOUSEHOLD ITEMS TO THOSE IN NEED LIVING IN THE SAN ANGELO AREA. OVERALL, IN 2018 RUST STREET MINISTRIES.... * HELPED 20,193 PEOPLE AND 7,930 FAMILIES * DISTRIBUTED 181,671 POUNDS OF FOOD, 20,953 POUNDS OF FOOD DONATED BY THE FOOD BANK, 5,250 POUNDS OF FOOD DONATED BY HEB, 5,395 BED AND BATH ITEMS, 78,486 ITEMS OF CLOTHING, 8,927 KITCHEN ITEMS, 1,077 FURNITURE ITEMS, 544 APPPLIANCES, AND $52,531 WORTH OF PURCHASED FOOD. CLOSET ON WHEELS (COW) IS A 30 FOOT TRAILER, MOBILE UNIT EQUIPPED WITH AIR CONDITIONING, BATH ROOM, SHOWER AND CLOTHES RACKS. THE COW IS TAKEN TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, CHILDREN'S FAIRS AND SIMILAR EVENTS WHERE IT IS USED TO GIVE AWAY CLOTHES. IN 2018 RUST STREET MINISTRIES HELPED 135 PEOPLE AND 31 FAMILIES WITH 420 POUNDS OF FOOD, 197 ITEMS OF CLOTHING, 17 BACKPACKS, AND 174 BICYCLES THROUGH ITS COW MINISTRY. ALSO, THE COW HAS BEEN TAKEN TO STAGING CENTERS FOR FIRE FIGHTERS AT LARGE RANGE FIRES TO PROVIDE THEM A COOL PLACE TO REST AND SHOWER AND TO PROVIDE CLOTHES FOR THEM.THE BREAD TRAILER IS A MOBILE UNIT THAT REACHES OUT TO THOSE IN NEED THROUGH A WEEKLY BREAD DISTRIBUTION. IT IS USED TO DELIVER BREAD TO THE LAKE VIEW RECREATION CENTER EVERY WEDNESDAY. BREAD IS DISTRIBUTED TO THE PUBLIC IN NEED WITHOUT CHARGE. IN 2018 RUST STREET MINISTRIES GAVE AWAY 37,441 POUNDS OF FOOD TO 7,164 PEOPLE IN NEED THROUGH THE BREAD TRAILER.THE GARDEN OF EDEN INCLUDES 38 GARDEN PLOTS OF WHICH 50% OF WHAT IS GROWN GOES TO FEED THE HUNGRY IN THE CONCHO VALLEY. IN 2018, 1,825 POUNDS OF VEGETABLES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO PEOPLE IN NEED.
