THE MISSION OF THE DALLAS HOLOCAUST AND HUMAN RIGHTS MUSEUM IS TO TEACH THE HISTORY OF THE HOLOCAUST AND ADVANCE HUMAN RIGHTS TO COMBAT PREJUDICE, HATRED, AND INDIFFERENCE. IT IS COMMITTED TO MAKING THE LESSONS OF THE HOLOCAUST AND HUMAN RIGHTS HISTORY ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE IN ORDER TO PREVENT MODERN-DAY GENOCIDES AND ACTS OF INJUSTICE. THE MUSEUM INVITES ALL VISITORS AND STUDENTS TO BECOME "UPSTANDERS," INDIVIDUALS WHO STAND UP FOR OTHER PEOPLE AND THEIR RIGHTS. THE NEW MUSEUM, OPENING SEPTEMBER 18, 2019, IS A 55,000-SQUARE-FOOT FACILITY THAT WILL WELCOME MORE THAN 200,000 VISITORS ANNUALLY, INCLUDING 100,000 STUDENTS, AND WILL PROVIDE A CRITICAL SPACE FOR OUR COMMUNITY TO CONVENE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE LESSONS OF THE HOLOCAUST AND HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUES HAPPENING ALL OVER THE WORLD. IT FEATURES THREE UNIQUE EXHIBITIONS THAT TEACH THE STORY OF THE HOLOCAUST, ITS IMPACT ON HUMAN RIGHTS, THE HISTORY OF GENOCIDES THROUGHOUT THE 20TH CENTURY AND BEYOND, AND OUR OWN COUNTRYS JOURNEY FOR HUMAN AND CIVIL RIGHTS. IT IS CRITICAL TO THE GOALS OF THE MUSEUM THAT STUDENTS RECEIVE THESE INVALUABLE LESSONS BY PROVIDING TRANSFORMATIONAL EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES THROUGH CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY AND EXHIBITIONS, LIVE AND RECORDED TESTIMONIES OF HOLOCAUST AND OTHER GENOCIDE SURVIVORS, AND AGE-APPROPRIATE CURRICULUM. THE MUSEUM EXPERIENCE FUND (MEF) WAS ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE FREE ADMISSION AND TRANSPORTATION TO ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED STUDENTS AND TITLE I SCHOOLS TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF THEIR FINANCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES LEARN THE LESSONS TAUGHT AT THE MUSEUM ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF UNCHECKED HATRED AND PREJUDICE. IN ADDITION TO THE CORE EXHIBITION, THE MUSEUM ALSO FEATURES: -SCHOOL TOURS FOR STUDENTS GRADES SIX THROUGH TWELVE -A RICH LIBRARY THAT CONTAINS ARTIFACTS, ARCHIVES, AND DIGITIZED SURVIVOR TESTIMONIES -TRAVELING CURRICULUM TRUNKS THAT ARE SHIPPED TO CLASSROOMS THROUGHOUT TEXAS -PRESENTATIONS BY SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS ON HOLOCAUST HISTORY AND HUMAN RIGHTS -SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS PRESENTED TWICE A YEAR THAT HIGHLIGHT TOPICS RELATED TO THE HOLOCAUST OR HUMAN RIGHTS -AN UPSTANDER SPEAKER SERIES THAT HIGHLIGHTS WORLD LEADERS WHO PROMOTE HUMAN DIGNITY BY STANDING UP TO INJUSTICE -A CIVIL DISCOURSE SERIES THAT PRESENTS ALL SIDES OF A THOUGHT-PROVOKING TOPIC THROUGH RESPECTFUL DISCUSSION -LAW ENFORCEMENT AND SOCIETY (LEAS) CLASSES FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL -MISSION-RELEVANT FILMS IN ITS STATE-OF-THE-ART CINEMARK NEXGEN THEATRE
