Mission

Daily Bread, as a Christ-centered organization, desires to help our Ministry Partners assist their communities in defeating poverty through God's work. Jesus said, "Don't send them away, you feed them." At Daily Bread, we fully embrace this. In addition to our weekly food distribution, Daily Bread equips our Ministry Partners with resources and training to address the root cause of poverty. We proudly distributed over 4.4 million pounds of food in 2018 and base our work on the book, When Helping Hurts: How To Alleviate Poverty Without Hurting The Poor. We focus on addressing the defined root cause of poverty- broken relationships. We do this by helping our Partners help their communities mend their connections with God, other people, and self. We proudly serve the Greater San Antonio area.

About

In 2017, DBM gave away 5 million pounds of food served over 175,000 people through over 130 community and ministry partners. We continue picking up milk and produce from 19 schools that was destined for disposal. This added approximately 1.2 million pounds of fresh milks and produce that we were able to give away to needy families and seniors served by Meals on Wheels. We also received funding to continue our commercial kitchen in order to expand our feeding programs. New partners are coming alongside to help develop our facility into a one-stop community center providing help and hope for those living in poverty and the under-served.
