Mission

Arms Wide Adoption Services' mission is to transform the lives of children in need of safe and nurturing permanent families.  Formerly Spaulding for Children, Arms Wide Adoption Services is a non-profit, no-fee foster care and adoption agency that works in conjunction with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to provide permanent, loving families to children in foster care who have been removed from their biological homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. We are proud to provide a full continuum of care, including foster care, adoption, post adoption, and post permanency services, all at no cost, to support children and families throughout their journey to adoption and after the adoption has been finalized. Throughout our 44-year history, Arms Wide Adoption Services has maintained exceptional success rates in placing special needs children in foster care in adoptive families and providing ongoing support to ensure the success of the adoption. In 2020, 93% of Arms Wide Adoption Services' adoptive finalizations were of special needs children as defined by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Special needs children in foster care are considered harder to place in adoptive homes and are at higher risk of aging out of Texas’s foster care system at age 18 without a family. Children who age out of foster care often face dire outcomes such as homelessness, incarceration, and poor educational attainment. Additionally, 99% of children served by Arms Wide Adoption Services' Post Adoption Program in 2020 remained with their adoptive family.
