About
Alpha Home has been providing new beginnings for women in the San Antonio area for the past 53 years by providing them with a pathway of help, hope, and healing through spiritually based drug and alcohol treatment and support. Alpha Home was created from the heart of Hulene Dempsey in 1965. She felt a deep desire to help restore the lives of women living in the grips of alcoholism. Hulene knew firsthand the hardship a woman struggling with substance abuse faced as she had also struggled with alcoholism. In September, 1966, Alpha Home officially became a non-profit organization established for the purposes of 'ministering to the spiritual and physical needs of women suffering the effects of alcoholism.'
