WE RECOGNIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF PETS IN THE LIVES OF HOMEBOUND INDIVIDUALS. RESEARCH SUGGESTS PET OWNERSHIP MAY BE A FACTOR IN IMPROVED HEALTH FOR THE ELDERLY. A PET, MAY ENHANCE A HOMEBOUND PERSON'S SENSE OF PERSONAL SECURITY, ENCOURAGE THE PERSON TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND ENGAGED IN LIFE. MANY OF THE ELDERLY PROTECT THEIR PETS FROM FOOD INSECURITY BY SHARING THEIR MEALS. BY FEEDING UP TO TWO PETS PER HOUSEHOLD THROUGH A UNIQUE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN PET SMART, THE BANFIELD CHARITABLE TRUST AND LOCAL VETERINARIANS, MOW ENSURES SENIORS GET THE BENEFIT OF PET OWNERSHIP WITHOUT SACRIFICING THEIR MEAL.3. FEED OUR FUTURE:PROVIDING NUTRITION SUPPORT TO SCHOOL-AGED YOUTH.THE FEED OUR FUTURE PROGRAM WORKS WITH YOUTH IN THE TULSA SCHOOL SYSTEM TO PROVIDE NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR YOUTH WITH HUNGER SECURITY ISSUES. THE GOAL IS TWOFOLD. FIRST, YOUTH WILL BE SUPPORTED TO MEET THEIR EDUCATIONAL NEEDS. LEARNING IS MADE MORE DIFFICULT WHEN THE BASIC NEED FOR FOOD IS NOT MET.
