The Colonial Dames of La (Nscda of La) annually presents American history awards to doctoral students in Louisiana researching any period of American history. 2. The Nscda of La also sends two winners and gives $600 travel money to two additional winners to attend the Congressional Seminar Essay Contest in Washington DC. Support projects that further patriotic causes in the state: 1. The historic flags program is offered to schools, veterans and other organizations and tells the history of the flags that have flown over our country. 2. Every year the Dames supports the military by visiting, sending cards and buying needed items for veterans. 3. The American Indian Nurse Scholarship Award Program gives students of American Indian descent scholarships that give them the opportunity to pursue careers in nursing.
