We're committed to assisting the Front Street Animal Shelter achieve its goal of saving the lives of all stray, abandoned, and abused animals who come through its doors. We support the many programs and activities needed to care for and find loving, forever homes for homeless animals. And we support causes that improve the lives of pets throughout the region.

Friends of Front Street Shelter concluded another year of successfully assisting and supporting the well-being of animals in the Sacramento Area, primarily those in the Front Street Shelter.Once again, the Friends of Front Street Shelter was selected by the Sacramento Regional Community foundation as one of a handful of nonprofits to participate in person during the Big Day of Giving. The total amount raised during this event alone in 2018 was $74,000. Our Brewfest event raised $94,782; and Paws to Party raised $94,038 Plus other smaller events such as the summer Beer Garden events, and individual donations assisted Friends of Front Street in providing funding for the following:$48,000 to support extensive medical expenses for care required outside routine treatment. $19,800 for dog training and behavior rehabilitation for dogs that required more focus than the animal shelter could provide. As a result, hundreds of dogs received behavior modification training in order to help them find their forever homes.$18,000 for enhancing staff training equipping staff with more tools to help animals$15,000 for TNR Program to help feral cats$15,000 was donated to Spay Day, the UCD Vet Med Teaching Hospital and others; $10,000 to assist the Animal Cruelty Task Force$18,000 for intern stipends to help medical staff, the foster/rescue program, community outreach & adoption events$24,000 to provide additional food to support shelter animals and fostersDeposit of $22,386 for construction of modular building to support shelterThese significant and critically needed items and services will ultimately improve the lives, health, and adoption rates of animals at the shelter.
