Restoration - - Continued stakeholder participation in the restoration of Sierra mountain and foothill streams and watersheds, prioritizing Deer Creek, the Bear River and their tributaries. Restoration work in 2018 included abandoned mine remediation, salmon habitat restoration, invasive non-native species removal, native vegetation re-introduction and habitat health improvement, geomorphological restoration of river structure, reduction of fire risk while improving ecosystem health, all with the integration of Native American traditional practices. Highlighted work included: Led a stakeholder group in the development of an extensive Restoration Plan for the Bear River watershed which includes 80 projects ready for implementation. Protected community members from being exposed to heavy metal contaminants in the soil by restoring Nevada Citys only park.
