Park Acquisition, Preservation, and Enhancement - The Foundation contributes funds to support programs and activities in Sonoma County Regional Parks, including the following major projects in 2018-19:o Taylor Mountain Regional Park and Open Space Preserve, Santa Rosa, $180,000 Extensive improvements at Taylor Mountain, particularly providing funds to build new trails and to design a new Natural Play Area. The Foundation will help fund additional construction of trails and the Natural Play Area in 2019-20 and subsequent years. o Doran Regional Park, Bodega Bay, $114,229 Construction of new permanent restroom facility in campground. o Fire Restoration and Resilience, system-wide, $96,689 Repairs of trails and infrastructure destroyed or damaged by the October 2017 Sonoma County wildfires at Sonoma Valley and Hood Mountain Regional Parks. Purchase of equipment, particularly a mini-excavator, to be used by Regional Parks for fire repair. Fire resilience efforts system-wide, including construction of shaded fuel breaks at the border of Shiloh Ranch Regional Park, and sheep grazing at Helen Putnam Regional Park, the Laguna de Santa Rosa Trail and other parks. o Mark West Regional Park and Open Space Preserve, Santa Rosa, $67,501 Provided funds for work by Regional Parks planners to prepare Mark West for its opening to the public.o Natural Resources Stewardship, Taylor Mountain Regional Park and Open Space Preserve, $60,000 Received a grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation for the Natural Resources Division of Sonoma County Regional Parks to use on a pilot project at Taylor Mountain. The pilot project is monitoring ecosystem health and function at Taylor Mountain.o Occidental Community Center, Occidental, $44,720 Replaced decaying gymnasium floor in this Parks-owned facility.o Park Furniture Program, system wide, $39,623 Installed benches, picnic tables and dedication plaques funded by contributions from families and loved ones.
