MAP was founded in 1987 by concerned citizens and has become the leading advocate for sound land use planning to protect our region's fragile landscapes from the impacts of poorly planned growth. MAP is a member based environmental advocacy organization that serves the Truckee and North Lake Tahoe Community. For thirty years MAP has worked collaboratively with regional conservation partners to protect special places such as Historic Downtown Truckee, Martis Valley, Coldstream Canyon, Negro Canyon, Eastern Truckee, Brockway Summit, Donner Summit and many beautiful places in-between through environmental advocacy efforts.
