Mission
CAP’s mission is to ensure that all pediatric cancer patients, regardless their income, can enjoy access to the best quality care in Puerto Rico while staying near their homes and family. We provide state-of-the art medical equipment for specialized pediatric oncology diagnostics and treatment. At the same time, we continuously improve the Oncology Unit facilities, making sure they can receive the quality care and attention they deserve in a comfortable ambiance. We also offer valuable programs and support services that contribute to the children’s treatment and recovery, including their emotional wellbeing. About
Uniendo Cabezas: This is the main fund-raising activity for the organization. It is an annual event in which individual, governmental and private donors contribute to the cause in various ways. The main theme of the activity is the voluntary shaving of the heads of people from both the general public and celebrities; in exchange for a monetary contribution. Private companies collect funds at their locations during the preceding months and bring the money to the activity to be accounted for. The fact that many people are impacted by pediatric cancer contributes to a significant turn-out at this event. The moneys raised in this activity is utilized to purchase sophisticated medical treatment equipment such as computerized tomography (CT) scanners, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to be placed in use at the University Pediatric Hospital at the San Juan Medical Center. The organization also uses the funds to finance improvements to the hosptal facilities through independent contractors.
