Mission

Deliver the Dream provides therapeutic programs to families facing a serious illness, crisis or disability. Most of our participants live in the state of Florida, however, we serve families throughout the United States. Our programs restore hope, strengthen relationships and change perspectives to provide inspiration for the future.

About

Deliver the Dream is a not-for-profit organization that offers families with a serious illness or crisis the opportunity to regain strength, mend their spirits and just be families and kids again. Whether it is a parent or child with an illness/crisis, Deliver the Dream provides a 3-day, 2-night retreat experience to the entire family for FREE! Deliver the Dream has worked with over twenty different types of illnesses/crisis including cancer, epilepsy, autism, cerebral palsy, death of a loved one, veterans, multiple sclerosis, and spina bifida. More than 7,500 family members living in the Southeast United States have attended our retreat weekends since 2002. During our 2017 fiscal year we served 97 families (449 family members), 145 volunteers volunteered and 76 healthcare organizations referred families to our program. Our program demonstrates that families who are together for an extended weekend with experienced facilitators, a structured schedule and services including group therapy; psycho-social activities; recreation; arts therapy and quality family-time, have a positive outcome that transforms their coping skills; improves communication between their family; and strengthens their bonds between each family and each family member. When a child develops a life-threatening disease, or a parent is diagnosed with a debilitating illness, the impact on the entire family can be very intense and often overwhelming. Sadly, families facing serious illness or crisis have little opportunity for relief from the stresses of their daily lives. While there are many camps that assist children facing illness, there are very few programs specifically designed to help the entire family unit. That is why Deliver the Dream family retreats are so important. Our program helps meet a very important need for families struggling to survive during times of crisis. Our retreats are offered at selected sites throughout the state of Florida; The Fountains in Orlando, The FFA Leadership Training Center in Haines City, and The Duncan Conference Center in Delray Beach. The program is designed to be a thoroughly inclusive experience and to meet the needs of the entire family unit. Within these special environments, families will learn new ways to express and better understand difficult emotions while creating fun and positive memories that will help to sustain them during trying times.
