About this organization
Mission
Sandoway's 'Our Changing Earth' program inspires personal action from its students to become engaged, informed citizens of South Florida and stewards of our natural world.
About
Provide educational experiences of Florida's environmental and historical sciences dealing with native coastal and marine environments, as well as promote conservation of our natural resources, beaches and plant life. We operate a nature center that is open six days a week. As Delray Beach's gateway to the ocean, we had over 32,000 visitors come through the center and learn about conservation, shark behavior and characteristics, and habitat destruction. Over 19,000 of those visitors attended our daily educational shark feeding which teaches the importance of conserving our oceans' top predator. We had over 300 people attend both our fall and spring annual beach cleans-ups that helped remove over 500 pounds of garbage from our local beaches. The center has displays and aquariums intended for guests of all ages including a newly built exhibit displaying stingrays that visitors can touch. All of these animals are used for educational classes and give visitors a chance for an interactive experience.
