In FY 2017, United Way of South Mississippi addressed needs by providing multi-year program grants to 9 local nonprofit agencies carefully selected by volunteers who served on the Community Investments Team. United Way of South Mississippi supported our impact area through community impact grants, disaster grants, pass through distributions and funder's grants in FY 2017, totaling more than $280,000 in distributions. Other impact initiatives are the FamilyWize prescription discount cards saving South Mississippians $208,705 on prescription drugs and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program returning $4.2 million to our community through free tax preparation.
