In 2018, the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama distributed 13,524,478 pounds of food to a network of 225 food pantries, children programs, and shelters in 12 counties of Central Alabama. The Community Food Bank and our network of partners provided charitable food assistance to between 61,671 to 105,390 residents per month. We also recovered 6,865,126 pounds of food from 148 grocers and other food donors, preventing these wholesome foods from going to waste. We supplied weekend meal kits to 828 students, partnered with four medical clinics to provide healthy food choices to patients at risk of hunger, hosted three monthly mobile pantries that served 4,221 residents, operated one low-cost mobile grocery store, and provided fresh produce and healthy staples to 3,153 children and family members through 20 school pantries.
