About
Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP): All communities depend on volunteers, both formal and informal, to address a range of problems and needs that other social institutions cannot handle themselves. Research has shown there are many benefits for those who volunteer and it is more beneficial to older adults than to younger people. The benefits go beyond just making the volunteers feel better about themselves, it helps them remain healthy and could even prolong their lives. Positive Maturity's RSVP program ensures that volunteers are matched with opportunities that suit their interests and skills. RSVP stands apart from other volunteer programs by understanding older volunteers and how they approach volunteerism. Volunteers are also provided ongoing support throughout a wide range of meaningful volunteer experiences. In 2015, RSVP had over 1500 volunteers who volunteered approximately 423,000 hours in Blount, Jefferson, Shelby, and Walker counties.
