THE CONSORTIUM, WHOSE ADMINISTRATIVE HOME IS COMMON TABLE HEALTH ALLIANCE, IS MADE UP OF 36 KEY STAKEHOLDERS IN MEMPHIS AND ITS INITIATION AND INITIAL PROGRAMS ARE BEING FUNDED BY GRANTS FROM THE AVON BREAST CANCER CRUSADE, GENENTECH, INC., THE METROPOLITAN CHICAGO BREAST CANCER TASK FORCE AND THE CITY OF MEMPHIS. ACCORDING TO NATIONAL STATISTICS, MEMPHIS HAS THE HIGHEST RATE OF DISPARITIES AMONG BLACK WOMEN IN THE COUNTY. THESE WOMEN DIE OF BREAST CANCER AT TWICE THE RATE OF WHITE WOMEN. TO MOVE THE NEEDLE ON BREAST CANCER MORTALITY DISPARITY, THE ALLIANCE WILL WORK THROUGH MBCC TO ENGAGE FUNDING PARTNERS AND POLICY MAKERS TO ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING AREAS: AWARENESS, MAMMOGRAPHY CAPACITY, TREATMENT CAPACITY, CARE PROCESS, PUBLIC POLICY AND LEGISLATION, AND QUALITY OF CARE. THE NATIONAL AVON STUDY DONE IN 2014 NOTED THIS TREND IN MEMPHIS AS THE WORST OF 40 LARGE CITIES AND HAS DOUBLED IN THE DISPARITY GAP OVER THE LAST 25 YEARS. GRANT FUNDING PROVIDES RESOURCES TO:- REDUCE BREAST CANCER RELATED MORTALITY DISPARITY RATES OF BLACK WOMEN IN MEMPHIS AND SHELBY COUNTY- INCREASE THE NUMBER OF UNDERSERVED AND BLACK WOMEN RECEIVING SCREENING MAMMOGRAMS AND TREATMENT IN TARGETED LOW INCOME ZIP CODES IN MEMPHIS AND SHELBY COUNTY- PROVIDE A CONSISTENT, UNIFIED FORUM FOR COLLABORATION AMONG ALL BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR GROUPS AND SUPPORTING STAKEHOLDERS IN MEMPHIS AND SHELBY COUNTYLET'S CHANGE (COMMIT TO HEALTHY ACTIVITY AND NUTRITION GOALS EVERY DAY) IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMON TABLE HEALTH ALLIANCE AND THE SHELBY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO FIGHT CHILDHOOD AND FAMILY OBESITY BY CREATING A CULTURE OF HEALTHY LIVING. LET'S CHANGE INCLUDES OVER 37 ORGANIZATIONS SPANNING A BROAD SPECTRUM OF BUSINESSES, COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, AND GOVERNMENT.
