Mission

Cool Girls’ mission is to empower Atlanta girls by breaking the cycle of poverty, low self-esteem and teen pregnancy. Cool Girls, founded in 1989, has formed strategic, long-term partnerships with Title I schools in metro Atlanta and 90% of the girls we serve qualify for free or reduced lunch and come from Low Moderate Income (LMI) families. We ensure that girls who are most in need of direct services participate in our programs. Our programs promote academic achievement and teach life skills development. Our early intervention services begin in the 2nd grade and through middle school and then high school, we provide building blocks and the tools for girls to make positive decisions, Cool Girls provides our programming free of charge to the girls, parents, and schools.

Cool Girls, Inc. is dedicated to the self-empowerment of girls in Atlanta by providing direct service to underserved youth. We provide the tools that help under-resourced and economically disadvantaged girls make positive choices to help them achieve academic success; lead healthy, active lives; break the cycles of poverty, teen pregnancy, and domestic violence; and overcome the barriers of racism and sexism. All of our award-winning programs are direct-service and are provided completely free-of-charge. In 2018-19 Cool Girls had a successful program year, serving 300 girls with anaverage of 221 girls in attendance each week. 23 girls graduated from Girls WhoCode, an intensive 20-week program where girls learn computer coding skills; 16Cool Scholars participants traveled to Alabama and Tennessee for the ExtremeCollege Road Trip; 17 girls participated in our Cool STEM Girls Camp a week longsummer technology camp (partnership with TAG-ED) ; Cool Girls awarded 14 highschool graduates with $30,000.00- a record breaking amount. 20 girls werematched with a new Cool Sisters mentor.
