Mission

The Red & Black has the dual missions of training students for future careers in journalism while serving our community as an independent source of news and information. We do this through the student-run newsroom of The Red & Black which publishes online and in print. We also produce special publications, programs and events.

About

Publishing: Annually, UGA students (typically 60-80 each semester) produce 40 weekly print newspapers, 2 full-size glossy magazines, and 4 small magazine guides designed and published for free distribution locations around the UGA campus and Athens, Georgia. A website and social media networks are also maintained and updated daily by students with new content and images. Publications and websites are funded by advertising representatives. Students receive publication management and advertising sales support (including direct supervision and one-on-one training) from a small staff of R&B professionals.
