Our vision is that all healthy and treatable animals are saved and that all people and animals are treated with respect and kindness. And it envisions a world where cruelty is not tolerated. Animal care: through an array of lifesaving services offered both in the shelter and in underserved communities, Charleston Animal Society (CAS) sheltered 9,028 animals, reunited 1,176 pets; trapped, sterilized and returned 1,709 free roaming cats; adopted 5,296 animals; fostered 2,496 injured and ill animals; investigated 74 cruelty cases; assisted 1,721 families with their pet care and medical needs and distributed 50,562 pounds of food to hungry pets. In addition, CAS provides refuge for 200 free roaming cats in its feline freedom sanctuary.
